Orange City, FL — AQUAfin Swim School, Northeast Florida’s premiere swim school led by two-time Olympian Nim Shapira, announces the grand opening of its newest school in Orange City, Florida. The grand opening will take place on July 22 from 8am-4pm at the state-of-the-art facility located at 820 Commed Boulevard, Orange City, FL 32763. Free swim trials will take place during the grand opening where swimmers will be assessed on their skillset and placed in their appropriate level based on AQUAfin’s proven curriculum.

The swim school will be AQUAfin’s fourth location and first franchised facility, expanding the company’s footprint in the sunshine state. Like its other locations, Orange City’s AQUAfin will provide swim lessons and water safety instruction to children starting as early as two months old. With a heated indoor pool and high-quality purification system, swim lessons take place year-round, seven days a week, rain or shine. Lessons are progress-based with a 1-instructor-to-4-student ratio, with parent and tot classes (1:8), and go up to adult.

Behind the first franchise is a husband-wife team, Rodion and Cassidy Davelaar. Rodion is a University of Florida alumnus and a former Olympian, having competed in the 50 meter freestyle at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Cassidy is a pediatrician with a passion for children. “The joy I found teaching my two children to swim showed me I wanted to help other families do this as well,” said Davelaar. “With our Olympic and pediatric experience, my wife and I know the importance of prevention and the best way to prevent a swim-related tragedy is to enroll children in swim lessons early.”

“We’re extremely proud to have Rodion as our first franchisee!” said AQUAfin Founder Nim Shapira. “Being a former Olympian himself combined with his career experience gives us the utmost confidence he will bring amazing water safety and swimming instruction to the Orange City community.”

With child drowning death rates being at a record high in 2021, AQUAfin looks to continue its mission to create a community of safer swimmers across Florida through positive education. To participate in a free swim assessment, please visit aquafinswimschool.com/locations/orange-city.
