Members Questions and Concerns

How long will it take for my child to level up?
The time it takes for a child to progress varies. Each child develops at their own pace, and progression depends on their current level. You can ask for your child to be evaluated during their lesson at any time. Our front desk staff can provide you information on what your swimmer needs to do to reach the next level.

How long will it take for my child to be swimming and/or be safe in the water?
This varies for each child. Consistent practice and attendance are key factors in achieving swimming proficiency and water safety.

What is the youngest age a child can be enrolled at AQUAfin?
Children can be enrolled as young as 2 months old. We offer baby lessons for ages 2 months to 3 years, and group lessons from age 3 through adulthood.

At what age do parents not have to get in the water with their child?
Parents are not required to be in the water with their child after the age of 3. Upon turning 3, we will schedule a trial in a group class to evaluate if the child is ready and safe to participate without a parent.

Do I always get the same coach?
Your swimmer might have different coaches from time to time. Sometimes our swim instructors will need time off. At AQUAfin, all staff are trained and certified in-house, ensuring consistent teaching according to our AQUAfin curriculum with weekly focus cards. This ensures continuous progress for your swimmer.

Can I request a specific coach?
We cannot guarantee specific coaches as it depends on availability and the coach’s schedule. However, all our coaches are highly trained and exceptional.

Why is my child doing the same thing repeatedly?
Swimming requires repetition. Practicing the same drills repeatedly helps swimmers master their skills.

Why is my child in the same class as a swimmer of a different age?
We group swimmers based on skill level, not age. All swimmers in a class have similar skill levels. If you wish to change classes, we can assist you.

What if I do not want to get in the water with my child in the parent and baby lessons?
If you are unable to get in the water with your child, another adult or guardian is allowed to get in for you. We cannot guarantee that one of our coaches will be available to accompany your child in our parent and baby lessons.

My child is potty trained. Can they swim without a diaper?
If your child has not had an accident in the past 6 months, they may swim without a diaper. However, there is a $300 fee if an accident occurs and they are not double diapered.

My child is crying and does not want to join the group class. What should I do?
If your child is experiencing parent attachment issues (up to 4.5 years old), consider enrolling them in a Parent and Flipper Transition class until they are more comfortable in the water without a parent.

Can I enroll my child if I cannot pay today?
To hold your spot, you must pay the $35 registration fee. The remaining tuition is due on the first day of class.

My child is 2 years and 6 months old and very comfortable in the water. Can they trial for Level 1?
Your swimmer has to be at least 3 years old in order to attend our group lessons without the parent. This policy is meant to keep all of our swimmers safe and all lessons running smoothly.

Is there an additional 10% sibling discount on twice-a-week lessons?
There is already a discount applied to twice-a-week lessons. One lesson per week is $110, while two lessons per week are $198 (i.e., $99 + $99). We cannot offer additional discounts on top of this.

Is there an additional 10% sibling discount on packages?
No, there is already a discount applied to each package, depending on the one purchased (10, 15, or 20 lessons).

Do you offer a military discount?
We do not offer a military discount.

If I purchase a package and need to stop attending for a month, can I pause my account since it is non-refundable?
Yes, we can pause your account and resume the package from where you left off. You will need to fill out a drop form online. In the comment section of the drop form, write “Pause Package.” Our staff will make sure your remaining lessons are credited to your account so you can continue later on.

Can I enroll my child without doing a trial?
Since our curriculum is skill-based rather than age-based, we require a trial to determine the appropriate level for your child before scheduling or enrolling them. The trial lesson is free.
